Bharat Stage 6

Don’t know where it BS 5 ?

Implementation of the BS V standard was originally scheduled for 2019. This has now been skipped. BS VI, originally proposed to come in by 2024, has now been advanced to 2020 instead.

Euro 5 concentrated on cleaning up emissions from diesel cars, especially reducing particulate matter(PM) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and the later Euro 6 came up early with new regulations.

It’s also proposed to kept minimum 20 kmpl mileage for BS 6 standard.

India’s auto sector accounts for about 18% of the total CO2 emissions in the country. Relative CO2 emissions from transport have risen rapidly in recent years, but like the EU, currently there are no standards for CO2 emission limits for pollution from vehicles.

Implementation of the BS V standard was originally scheduled for 2019. This has now been skipped. BS VI, originally proposed to come in by 2024, has now been advanced to 2020 instead.

Adaptation of Euro VI norms to Bharat Stage VI will not be a minor challenge.

The Center has recently announced that India will leapfrog from the Bharat Stage (BS) IV emission norms that are now in force to the BS VI norms by 2020.
